Dior Homme Cologne

Lately I have been on a Christian Dior spree trying anything I can get from the house. I just posted a review on the classic Dior Fahrenheit (don’t know why it took so long to try ).  While getting my hands on a handful of fragrances from Dior, I was able to get Dior Homme. This fragrance was launched in 2005 with a reformulation in 2011, and has a mixed reaction from the fragrance community. Let’s get into it!

Presentation

Dior Homme has a really nice solid bottle. Just like the other bottles I have seen from the house, heavy and very impressive. I love the solid, clean ice cube like design, with the thick cylinder tube running through the center of the bottle. But what really makes this bottle a win for me is the sprayer, man can this thing pump out some juice!

Notes & Scent

Top Notes: Lavender, Sage and Bergamot

Middle Notes: Iris, Amber and Cacao

Base Notes: Vetiver, Patchouli and Leather

Dior Homme appears to have had two formulations, the initial creation in 2005 by Olivier Polge and the latest batch in 2011 by Francois Demachy.

This is one of those scents that you either love or hate it. When I initially spray this on I feel like I have been digging thru my grandmother’s pocket book. I get a lot of different notes that I can’t really put my finger on, and it smells very feminine. Hints of Bergamot pop there head in and out. As Dior Homme starts to dry down it gives me glimpses of hope but sadly crashes and burns. I admit the dry down is not as bad and does have a fresh Bergamot, Lavender, Iris vibe that tends to stay till the end. But I just can’t get away from that initial pocketbook / I work at Sephora vibe, that just doesn’t sit well on my skin.

I really wanted to like Dior Homme but unfortunately, I don’t.

Projection

I don’t get good performance from Dior Homme. Thank GOD because I don’t really care for this scent. It projects for the first 2 hours then really becomes a skin scent.

Longevity

Dior Homme gives me average to above average longevity on my skin. During my testing I was averaging about 6 to 8 hours.

Versatility

Season: Summer

Age Group:30 and up.

This is definitely a Summer scent. Not a very versatile fragrance I see this more as a formal scent. Very cloying if you spray too much.

Price $45- $100

My Overall Feedback

Dior Homme unfortunately is not a fragrance I would use. The initial sweet feminine, women’s makeup bag really turns me off and seems to stay throughout the life of this fragrance. Dior Homme reminds me of a Batman Vs Superman, a great concept but poorly executed.

Brooklyn's Feedback

So, straight off the initial smell, it smells like some cheap perfume that spilled in your granny’s purse. After a few minutes of dry down, it’s not as bad, however it still isn’t one I would prefer to smell. It just has this sickly sweet note that reminds me of something the older crowd (50+) would wear. Not to my liking at all.

Ever since I was young, I have always loved to smell great. Cologne head all the way. Now that I am older I still love going to the mall or local shops to smell the latest fragrances. Always looking to make my collection of scents larger :)
