I am a big fan of YSL. La Nuit De L’Homme is one of my favorite scents from the house. That being said I was excited to get my hands on another flanker from YSL. L’Homme Libre by Yves Saint Laurent let’s get into it.

This bottle resembles the other L’Homme bottles. Cylindrical with a nice heavy cap. The sprayer works great like all the other YSL L’Homme bottles. My bottle has a slight blue tint towards the bottom which fades into the clear bottle. I like the touch of blue added to the sprayer line to complete this.  Overall nice bottle.

Top Notes: Star Anise, Basil, Violet Leaf and Bergamot

Middle Notes:  Nutmeg and Pink pepper.

Base Notes:  Vetiver and Patchouli.

When I put on L’Homme Libre, I get a very fresh aquatic scent. The opening starts off with a strong blast of Violet Leaf blended well with Basil and Bergamot. It’s hard to pick out the notes on this scent as they are blended together well. I really like the way this scent starts of. As this fragrance starts to wear down I start to get more of the typical YSL DNA with the Patchouli. Overall I really do like this scent, I have heard comments from people saying it smells like Axe Spray and I can understand that vibe a little, but I personally like what YSL has done.

Ohh now to the projection. This is my biggest gripe about this fragrance. I love the fresh aquatic patchouli mix but man this does not last on my skin. I get moderate projection for the first 1-3 hours and after that it really becomes a skin scent. Man how I wish this scent would project

Unfortunately this L’Homme Libre does not last at all. Man how I wish it did. This is mainly a skin scent that last around 4-6 hours on my skin.

Very versatile fragrance that is not too daring.  I could see this working in an office environment or in a casual setting. I see L’Homme Libre as mainly a summer or spring scent.
